Greening the Alley: Issues and Solutions

A symposium to discuss the challenges to working in the heavily developed urban areas such as Boston's Back Bay, what are the design solutions that led to the successes and benefits upon completion? How do we monitor our success? We learned about the opportunities created for academic partnerships and applied student research. Panelists included: Nancy Girard, Commissioner of the Department of the Environment, City of Boston; Bob Uhlig, President, Halvorson Design Partnership; Keith Riquinha, Project Manager, ValleyCrest Landscape Development; Jim Newman, Linnean Solutions; and Shaun O'Rourke, BAC Director of Sustainable Design Studies.
