Horticultural Director, Mark Richardson will walk participants through the New England Wildflower Society and Andropogon Associates of Philadelphia's development of a comprehensive master plan for Garden in the Woods and its native plant botanic garden. Featuring its renowned native plant botanic garden in Framingham, Massachusetts, the project brings together the nation's oldest plant conservation organization and the acclaimed landscape architecture firm that has led the profession in ecological and sustainable design for nearly four decades.

The master plan will chart a future for the 45-acre property that will realize the full potential of the beautiful site, strengthen the garden displays, improve visitor services, and meet the challenges of a changing climate. This presentation will give participants a behind the scenes look at how it was done. Details about the survey work, stakeholder engagement, sustainability issues, impact on hydrology, addressing climate change, loss of hemlocks and invasives will be discussed. The workshop will be useful for professionals and stakeholders alike.
