The permaculture design process seeks to combine the design of food systems and social structures to provide for human needs while restoring ecosystem health. Examining the interconnections between environmental, social and economic components, Permaculture is informed by the disciplines of systems ecology, ecological design and ethno-ecology. In this design talk, students will be introduced to permaculture design principles and strategies. The framework of permaculture includes "social permaculture", what does this mean for designers? Attendees will receive a reading in advance of this interactive session to allow for optimal discussion and participation.
