City Lab Intensive is a mandatory orientation experience for all incoming undergraduate and graduate students. Interdisciplinary teams of no more than 10 students each will work alongside two instructors/teaching assistants and will engage in a series of hands-on and reflective exercises centered around the exploration of neighborhoods, prominent buildings, and open spaces structured around public transportation routes in the City of Boston.

Scope and Focus:
Students will engage with one another to explore, discuss, and analyze designated Boston neighborhoods, buildings, and spaces over the course of two consecutive Friday/Saturday excursions. Activities and exercises with be combined with guest speakers who have pertinent knowledge and experience of particular sites and/or community development. As an introduction to the BAC concurrent education experience, students will develop a strong sense of discovery and analysis, and a curiosity and appreciation for learning outside the classroom in a personal, applied manner, where collaboration and effective communication is essential.
