The Boston Architectural College is proud to announce that the Bachelor of Interior Design and Master of Interior Design programs have been ranked among the top ten in the nation, and the Bachelor of Architecture program ranked among the top 15. The rankings were released by DesignIntelligence in the publication of America's Best Architecture & Design Schools 2013, which also identified the BAC among the top ten schools in the East Region at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
DesignIntelligence also researched school branding to identify diversified strengths in architectural education, recognizing the BAC brand in the category of Embracing Design Entrepreneurship.
Additionally, more than 2,840 architecture and landscape architecture students completed a separate survey about their satisfaction with their education. Ninety-four percent of BAC students believed they will be well prepared for their professions upon graduation, and nearly four of every five students rated the quality of their programs as above average.
"Professional designers today must be technically skilled, adaptable to rapidly changing market expectations, and creative in addressing diverse clients' needs," said President Ted Landsmark. "The BAC's hands-on, professionally-based, interdisciplinary approach to educating designers throughout their careers has created a global community of practitioners who share their innovative thinking on how design can address pressing human and environmental needs. The BAC's educational model brings together design entrepreneurs as practitioners and students who are working together to improve the quality of life in our world."
For the past six years, the BAC's design programs have consistently been ranked among the top ten in the nation, with its undergraduate interior design program ranked third in 2012, its graduate interior design program ranked in the top ten for three consecutive years, and its undergraduate architecture program ranked in the top ten in 2009 and top 20 in 2010.
America's Best Architecture & Design Schools is conducted annually by DesignIntelligence on behalf of the Design Futures Council. Rankings are based on a survey of practicing professionals with direct experience hiring and supervising the performance of recent architecture and design graduates in the fields of architecture, industrial design, interior design, and landscape architecture. DesignIntelligence selects participants from the Greenway Group database of leading firms throughout the country. A total of 392 professional practice organizations participated in the research this year, responding to the question, "In your firm's hiring experience in the past five years, which of the following schools are best preparing students for success in the profession?" The rankings also reflect information from the National Architectural Accreditation Board, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board, and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
