Cate Oranchak joined the group of faculty and instructors at the BAC in the spring semester of 2013. Throughout her career, Cate has taught courses at the graduate and undergraduate level combining academics with professional practice. She has taught site engineering and construction-related topics at the Landscape Institute and Rhode Island School of Design; she has sat on design juries at the Harvard Graduate School of Design as well as for Harvard's Career Discovery program, the Boston Architectural College and the University of Connecticut- Storrs.
Cate, a LEED-accredited professional, has practiced landscape architecture at distinguished design firms in the Boston area for over 25 years. She worked at the SWA Group in Boston, Burck Ryan Associates and Sasaki Associates before forming her own design practice, Catherine Oranchak/Landscape Architect. Her varied experience spans projects of all shapes and sizes: urban, institutional, corporate and residential in both the public and private realms. Her recent work includes a college campus landscape marking the entrance to a new athletic village at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York; a courtyard for a mixed-use project in Boston, Massachusetts and gardens for a private residence on Martha's Vineyard. She is a member of ASLA and BSLA and is licensed to practice landscape architecture in both Massachusetts and New York.
Cate's passion for sharing her knowledge and experience with others drives her ambition to continue to combine teaching and professional practice.
