Elsie Hurst
She was a self-made and successful woman, the last perhaps of a generation that could rise without academic credentials to do meaningful, valuable, and challenging work. With no more than a high school diploma, Elsie led the BAC during its time as a Center through the multiple accreditation processes and expansions that led to the school's degree-granting status and its leadership position in architectural education. In 2007, the College recognized Elsie for her achievements with a Doctor of Administration Honoris Causa. More

LI graduate '00 and member of the Board of Directors of the New England Landscape Design and History Association (NELDHA), recently launched a NELDHA project, designing a self-guided walking tour of Boston's parks and garden spaces. An enthusiastic group of dedicated volunteers have joined her in this effort. More
