Campus Traditions

Here at the BAC, we take pride in our rich history and traditions that have been built within campus life. These are some campus traditions which happen each semester or year in conjunction with our office:

First Fridays
On the first Friday of every month when classes are in session, students congregate for a social gathering with food, sponsored by a different student organization.

Food for Finals and Extended Hours
Each semester, BAC student organizations sponsor free food for students around the time of finals and previous to studio reviews. In addition, certain building hours are extended to give students extra access to the resources on campus.

Honors and Awards Ceremony
Held each semester, this event celebrates the scholarly and professional accomplishments of our BAC students, faculty and staff.

LoftArt
The LoftArt project is a creative initiative at the BAC dedicated to enabling ideas in the BAC community. Exhibitions, installations, film screenings and performances occur regularly in the BAC Loft on the 2nd Floor of the 320 Newbury Street building. If you have an idea or care to show, build, perform, or curate, contact loft@the-bac.edu.

Midnight Munchies and Extended Hours for Midterms
Leading up to midterms, Atelier sponsors snacks and works with the Dean of Students' Office, Facilities, and Operations to extend the building hours at 320 Newbury Street to midnight. The BAC Library usually extends its hours as well, allowing students to focus on midterm projects and studying.

Student Lecture Series
Each semester Atelier sponsors a series of lectures for students from leading professionals and experts revolving around a specific theme. For example, the Autumn 2010 Student Lecture Series theme is Material Innovations.

Student Run Educational Workshops
Student organizations run interactive workshops like the Model Building Workshop, workshops on photographing your studio work, as well as tutorials for certain computer programs to give students the opportunity to learn new skills, increase their confidence and improve their craft.
