Catherine Offenberg is a principal with CRJA-IBI Group, an award-winning landscape architectural design and environmental-planning practice based in Boston, MA. Her 30+ year career combines professional design and business management experience, which began with some of New York's leading advertising firms, including executive positions at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, J. Walter Thompson Company, and a directorship at Richard Avedon, Inc.
Since joining CRJA-IBI Group in 1999, Cathy has specialized in site planning and design for both public and private institutions. Her diverse project portfolio spans multiple market sectors and she co-directs the firm's Embassy practice for the U.S. Department of State. Cathy's related global projects have stretched from Asia to Europe and South America to the Middle East.
As principal with the firm, Cathy oversees strategic planning, budget and financial management, staffing, client relations, business development, as well as design excellence and quality control. Throughout her career, Cathy has enjoyed mentoring junior staff and strongly believes in growing young talent with diverse backgrounds. Her community work includes fundraising for the Boston Society of Architects (BSA) Foundation.
Cathy received her Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College, majoring in English, and her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from The City College of New York. She is registered in eight states, CLARB certified and her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Boston Society of Landscape Architects Excellence Award in Design, 2017. Cathy's professional affiliations include the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Society of College and University Planning (SCUP), and Advancing Women in Transportation (WTS).
Cathy draws design inspiration from an eclectic array of sources, including modern dance, sculpture, gardening, music, and the landscape of the Connecticut River Valley, where she grew up.
