Fall 2013 Student Lecture Series: Phil Freelon

Recent Museum Projects - From Idea to Realization

October 2, 2013

Abstract: Phil Freelon, FAIA, LEED AP will present a lecture titled Recent Museum Projects - From Idea to Realization. He will focus on his firm's design process and how architecture can be instrumental in expressing a museum's core vision.

The Freelon Group strives to create appropriate and sustainable environments that are thoughtfully considered and skillfully crafted. Freelon works primarily in the public sector with the notion that design excellence should be experienced in our everyday lives. Understanding that successful architecture begins with a clear and powerful idea, Freelon partners with his clients to deliver their institutional vision through design. The team of Freelon Adjaye Bond/SmithGroup (FAB/S) was selected by the Smithsonian Institution as the architects for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, currently under construction on the Mall in Washington, DC.
