Summer Academy Projects

In the Mc Cormick Gallery Summer Academy Design Explorations exhibition, student work representing the program's full month of work is on display. Projects exhibited included full scale cardboard chair prototypes designed for specific clients and purposes, plasticine master planning studies for re-designing a section of Boston's Emerald Necklace, and dwelling models investigating ideas of space and volume and the qualities of space that might suit various, diverse contemporary families. In addition, work produced by Design Studio 2 students explored space, scale, and site issues with problems of increasing complexity. Studio 2 projects included studies of spatial condition in the Boston Public Library, full scale models of walls or membranes designed for a variety of purposes and proposals for a bike shed, with storage, changing and a solar re-charging station sited on Boston's Rose Kennedy Greenway at Dewey Square.
