Paul Doherty, President and CEO, the digit group, inc., will present The Legacy of Design Technology as part of the Spring 2013 Student Lecture Series on April 25, 6:00 PM in Cascieri Hall.

The Legacy of Design Technology is public lecture that presents an exploration of the forces that are driving change in the design professions. Global and local market conditions, process redesign and technology innovations at the edges are forcing a critical look at the value of design and designers. Designers are at the critical junction of making process and technology decisions that will affect how work gets done, how technology tools are creating the environment for a 5th Utility of Information Communications Technology (ICT) and how technology can be leveraged to design Smart Buildings and Smart Cities. Real world examples and case studies will be presented regarding projects, tools and suggested next steps from Silicon Valley, Hollywood, China, Singapore, and the Middle East. The design profession needs to control, manage and lead this transformative process or relegate themselves as subcontractors of design services in the market.
