The Landscape Architecture of Lawrence Halprin

A traveling photographic exhibit of landscape architect Lawrence Halprin work is coming to the Boston Architectural College next fall.

The exhibit was previously on display at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The exhibit chronicles Halprin's life and work and was created in recognition of his 100th birthday.

His prolific career spanned more than five decades, with highlights that include the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (Washington, D.C.), Freeway Park (Seattle, WA), and the Portland Open Space Sequence (Portland, OR). His firm was a seedbed for many talented designers now celebrated in their own right, and the innovative techniques he pioneered changed the field of landscape architecture forever.

The exhibition will feature newly commissioned contemporary photographs of Halprin's work. This traveling photographic exhibition is curated by The Cultural Landscape Foundation.

The Landscape Architecture of Lawrence Halprin will be on exhibition at the Boston Architectural College's McCormick Gallery September through November 2018.

The McCormick Gallery exhibits a variety of design work that speaks to wider themes of sustainability, historic preservation and new technologies, and to BAC values of social responsibility, accessibility and diversity. Prominently located on the corner of Newbury and Hereford streets, in the BAC's main building, the gallery engages thousands of shoppers, students, and tourists that pass by its windows and the bustling college within. All come together in this space for public opening receptions and exhibition related lectures.
