David A. Bunis is a seasoned trial lawyer with over 35 years of experience representing and advising major institutions, businesses, and individuals in high-stakes legal matters. He has served as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer at two major research universities, providing strategic counsel on the full range of issues facing higher education institutions.
As a trial lawyer, David has extensive experience litigating complex commercial disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, trade secrets, construction, employment, and government enforcement actions. He has secured multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements -- including a multi-million-dollar trial verdict for a company fraudulently induced into $100M corporate acquisition -- and has successfully defended scores of clients through trial and negotiation.
David’s accomplishments have been recognized with numerous accolades, including recognition as one of the top 100 lawyers in Massachusetts, Massachusetts Lawyer of the Year, and Massachusetts In-House Lawyer of the Year. Davidearned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Trial Advocacy. He holds a B.A., cum laude, from Brandeis University. He is a member of the Massachusetts bar and the bars of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
