Kishore Varanasi, AICP, is an award-winning urban designer, strategist, innovator, teacher, and writer, with a wide ranging influence on both the public and private sectors locally and internationally. His work involves the rejuvenation of downtowns and waterfronts, master planning for urban institutions and new communities, and design of large mixed-use projects. Notable amongst Kishore's transformational work includes, master plans for Masdar City's Phase 2 neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, the Bulfinch Crossing Redevelopment in Boston, MA, the NorthPoint neighborhood in Cambridge, MA and the Durham Innovation District in Durham, NC. Kishore's innovative contributions stem from his ability to create viable and sustainable mixed-use neighborhoods converging the interests of residents, government entities and developers, by inspiring creative collaborations and fresh approaches to community building. Kishore is a visiting critic at MIT, Roger Williams University and Yale. An avid biker, he served on Mayor Menino's Complete Streets Advisory Committee, formed to transform Boston streets into great public spaces. Kishore holds a MS in Urbanism from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a M.Arch from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a B.Arch from the School of Architecture and Planning at Hyderabad, India.
