Director of Landscape Architecture

Margarita Iglesia is the Director of Landscape Architecture at The Boston Architectural College (BAC). She began her teaching career in 2010 as an online instructor in the Master of Design Studies in Sustainable Design program, with an academic focus on sustainable urban design and planning, climate adaptation, and resilience. In 2014, she joined the School of Landscape Architecture where she taught the Housing and Institutional Planning Studio and the Contemporary Landscape Architecture Seminar in Urban History. She became Educational Director of Curriculum Development in 2021 and assumed the role of Director of the school in 2023.

Prior to teaching at the BAC, Margarita worked in several design consulting firms in Boston. With over twenty years of professional experience, she has contributed to multiple urban design projects, downtown revitalization plans, design guidelines for historic neighborhoods, and redevelopment studies for underutilized waterfronts throughout New England. Additionally, she was an adjunct professor at the School of Architecture & Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology for ten years.

Originally from Spain and raised in Venezuela, Margarita moved to Boston to pursue a Master of Architecture in Urban Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and an affiliate member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
