Maria Chapian is the Vice President of Finance and Administration, and oversees both finance and administrative functions, serving as the primary liaison with the Board of Trustees' Finance, Investment, and Audit and Risk Management committees.
Maria coordinates with internal stakeholders to enhance budgetary and managerial reporting. She remains committed to advancing the GOHIO initiative for operational efficiency, bolstering the finance team through strategic recruitment, and implementing robust internal controls aligned with our ‘BAC to the Future’ strategic plan.
Her career highlights include significant achievements in accounting, financial reporting, and strategic planning, culminating in her successful tenure as Interim Vice President of Finance over the past year. Previously, Maria served as our Controller and Associate Vice President of Finance since 2021.
Maria holds a degree from Bentley University and began her career as an auditor at KPMG in Boston before transitioning to leadership roles in the nonprofit sector. Her accomplishments include securing $7M in bond financing and driving a 32% increase in summer camp sales during her tenure as Director of Finance & Operations at a nonprofit organization. Maria's proficiency in lean principles and continuous improvement has consistently delivered high-quality results and advanced organizational objectives.
