2023 Park(ing) Day

Get ready: Friday, September 15, 2023, marks the date for Park(ing) Day!

This global, inclusive project invites people from across the world to come together on this day and temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces into public parks and social gathering spots. It's a day dedicated to advocating for safer, greener, and more equitable streets while fostering creativity, play, and activism in our urban environments.

The 2023 Park(ing) Day initiative at the BAC will be spearheaded by members of the college's Student American Society of Landscape Architects (SASLA) chapter. Leading the project will be Amanda Truesdell and Hanna Trinka, both Bachelor of Landscape Architecture students. Together, Amanda and Hanna will be crafting a delightful parklet installation centered around this year’s Park(ing) Day theme of "Pollinators” in order to bring focus to birds, bats, bees, butterflies, and other insects who need our help now more than ever!

We're delighted to share some exciting news: The BAC's "Pollinator" parklet installation will be extended for all to enjoy through Open Newbury that takes place Sunday, September 17.
