Gather together for the final 2024 Spring Lecture Series Where Shall I Go? Practices of an Architectural Advocate with Bethany Lundell Garver, AIA, NCARB, Dean and Faculty of Practice at the BAC.

Join us in person at Cascieri Hall or on Zoom.

Bethany Lundell Garver is an architect, artist, and visionary leader whose work transcends the traditional boundaries of design. With a relentless commitment to human-centered systems thinking and radical collaboration, Beth is revolutionizing the intersection of design education, community engagement, and professional practice.

In 2022, Beth co-founded Gateway Office (GO) at the Boston Architectural College, pioneering a new model for community-based design that serves as both a local and global gateway to social entrepreneurship, environmental justice, and innovative design practice. Under her guidance, GO is not just a place for creativity with/in community, but a catalyst for change, with a groundbreaking approach that utilizes at least 90% reused or reclaimed materials in its live projects.

Her talk Where Shall I Go? Practices of an Architectural Advocate invites those within and outside the architectural profession to embark on a journey of self-discovery and engagement. In a world where change is constant, Beth urges emerging leaders and seasoned architects alike to scrutinize their motives, evaluate their influence, and transition from a focus on time-bound productivity to fostering a values-centered community of Architectural Advocates. This is a call to action for those ready to publicly lead the design of approaches, spaces, and policies that foster intercultural understanding, generosity, and human flourishing within the built environment.
