Lucca Townsend’s lecture touches on how her thesis (A Cemetery in the City) led her to design spaces for shared experience within urban landscapes. She will share her work on park buildings, urban sculptures, and projects that blend landscape and architecture.

Ruthie Kuhlman’s lecture focuses on how concept and context can shape the design and experience of building. She looks at the exploration and discovery of space through circulation design of a new Boston Globe headquarters downtown, the creation of a new sculptural residence responding to the fabric of the neighborhood along an East Boston park, to the design of a new mass timber building in Worcester, MA.

Lucca's undergraduate years were spent in Montreal at McGill University studying psychology, mental health, and social impact which continue to influence her design work.
