When a building is labeled as “accessible,” we imagine that it should be accessible to everyone. However, because many accommodations that help some disabled people harm others, there is no such thing as universal access as people would like to believe. Through the examination of how users and environments meet each other, "Mismatch" explores ways to give autonomy and control back to users by recentering the disabled narrative.
Hannah Wong is a designer and the founder of Remarcation, a social enterprise focused on providing detailed accessibility information to disabled users and developing access recommendations for public space. She is adjunct faculty at The Boston Architectural College (BAC) teaching design and disability. Hannah is a recent graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) with a master's in architecture, where she was the first legally blind student to attend and graduate from the GSD.
