When you build a public park, who does it serve? This seemingly simple question lies at the heart of complex issues of justice, involving factors like location, sense of safety, funding, design, and maintenance—which all intertwine to shape who uses a park and whether it succeeds. In this lecture, Glen will examine parks and public spaces in Boston, Cleveland, and Albany, exploring how expectations were met—or fell short—and asking, ultimately, whether justice was served and for whom.
Join us in person at Cascieri Hall or virtually on March 12, 2025, at 6PM EST.
Glen is a Principal at STIMSON in the Cambridge studio with over 30 years of experience. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a registered Landscape Architect in Massachusetts. Glen has a particular interest in exploring the expressive and sculptural potential of landform as it relates to unique programs and environmental conditions. In recent years, he has also focused on bringing innovative and sensitive landscapes to historic campuses such as MIT, Harvard, and Boston College and public parks such as Doan Brook and Lincoln Park. His work includes award-winning campus and institutional comprehensive plans, public parks, and private residences.
