Professor Kevin Alter explores recent work from Alterstudio Architecture, where he is a Founding Partner, offering a thoughtful examination of how these projects contribute to constructing meaning within the field of architecture. The lecture begins with a set of conceptual proposals aimed at framing a lens through which the work can be understood. Following this foundation, Professor Alter presents a selection of recently, built projects, highlighting their design intent and contextual relevance. Recognizing the distinctive pedagogy of Boston Architectural College (BAC) — where students are actively engaged in professional practice — the lecture places special emphasis on the buildings' construction and detailing. This focus will illustrate how materiality, assembly, and craft play a critical role in shaping architectural significance.

Join us in person at Cascieri Hall or virtually on April 16, 2025, at 6PM EST.
