Please join us as Shepley Bulfinch celebrates its 150th anniversary of continuous practice. Recognitions kick-off with the exhibition A Legacy of Design Innovation opening reception at The Boston Architectural College's McCormick Gallery to celebrate the firm's forward-thinking buildings and spaces that have inspired living, learning, and healing since 1874.
The exhibit traces the evolution of Shepley Bulfinch, starting with its formation in the Boston suburb neighborhood of Brookline, Massachusetts, by Henry Hobson Richardson. From his foundation of the eponymous Romanesque style first seen in Trinity Church (1877) to the architects he helped shape through his practice, the legacy of Shepley Bulfinch ripples around the world through the buildings and spaces that touch our everyday lives.
Today, the firm thrives as a women-led architecture and interior design firm, with a notable legacy of collaborating with clients who drive life-changing results through markets including healthcare, higher education, housing, and libraries. Visitors to the exhibit can view original models and ephemera from some of the firm's historic and on-the-boards work with site-specific installations created specifically for the gallery.
