The BAC is thrilled to receive a $25,000 Presidential Grant for Alternate Academic Delivery from the Davis Educational Foundation. The grant was received from the Davis Educational Foundation, established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis' retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc.

"The BAC leadership team believes that faculty development in remote and hybrid teaching and learning directly supports student success and serves our mission and vision to provide excellence in design education emerging from practice and accessible to diverse communities anywhere, anytime, and for everybody," said Victoria Liptak, Vice President of Academic Affairs.

"That's why the Davis Educational Foundation's call for applications seemed like such a good fit. I knew the whole leadership team supported faculty development, and I knew the faculty were eager both because they responded with such passion and agility in developing our summer faculty development workshops. Our faculty were clamoring for more and for a commitment to ongoing faculty development so they could be confident that they could engage students in design learning in whatever mode they were teaching in. Already they are coming up with great ideas for fall faculty development for alternate modes of teaching and learning, this time looking to bring in experts who can challenge us to incorporate innovative techniques and technologies focused on student-centered learning experiences," Liptak shared.

Thanks to the Davis Educational Foundation, the BAC plans to bring in external experts to augment faculty learning in innovative online teaching approaches; host a symposium on teaching and learning in remote, hybrid, and online modes; and offer mini-grants to support faculty pilot projects for innovation in remote and hybrid teaching and learning.
