Spotlight Story: Yoel Honig

Yoel Honig (he/him), a Brooklyn-based online Master of Architecture student (M.Arch) at Boston Architectural College (BAC), is building a professional and academic path grounded in both technical rigor and thoughtful design. Alongside his studies, Yoel works as an Architectural Designer at J. Frankl Architects, where he contributes to a range of complex residential and infrastructure projects.

In his professional role, Yoel is deeply involved in mid- to high-rise residential developments, bringing a strong focus to project coordination, construction administration, façade exploration, and unit typology development. His recent work includes façade development for a waterfront residential project totaling approximately 700 dwelling units, as well as façade studies for an 83-unit residential building. He has also taken on a leadership role in construction administration for a 500+ unit project, coordinating documentation, facilitating communication across teams, and resolving issues throughout the construction process.

Beyond residential work, Yoel has contributed to infrastructure design through his involvement in a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus terminal project, supporting early-stage design studies and coordination. His role extends into the technical backbone of the firm as well, where he actively supports BIM standards by developing templates, refining workflows, and improving production efficiency across teams.

At the BAC, Yoel's academic experience complements his professional growth, reinforcing his design thinking and personal approach to architecture.

I learned in Studio 4 from my instructor that if you’re happy with the work, you can convince others to see your point. But if you’re not happy with it, there’s no point in trying to convince someone else.

This mindset underscores his commitment to authenticity and clarity in design.

Yoel also emphasizes the importance of an inclusive and supportive academic environment. “I’m extremely happy being at the BAC. As someone with religious requirements, they have been accommodating in every way possible,” he says, highlighting the College’s flexibility and student-centered approach.

Through a balance of professional experience and academic exploration, Yoel Honig exemplifies the BAC’s practice-based approach to architectural education. His work demonstrates a clear dedication to thoughtful design, technical excellence, and meaningful user-centered spaces.
