Timothy "Tim" Toland is a Core Faculty member in Landscape Architecture at Boston Architectural College, bringing a strong blend of professional practice and academic experience to his teaching. His background includes roles as a Senior Associate at Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and Associate Professor at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
With decades of experience in landscape architecture, Tim combines technical expertise with a hands-on understanding of construction and planting systems. His work reflects a comprehensive approach that balances ecological performance, material systems, and infrastructure within the built environment.
His professional portfolio spans campus planning, urban design, greenways, streetscapes, and large-scale infrastructure projects, including flood protection systems and major urban parks. Across municipal, institutional, and private sectors, his work is grounded in both design excellence and constructability.
A dedicated educator, Tim teaches courses in planting design, construction, graphics, and design studios, preparing students to bridge design thinking with real-world application. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Landscape Development and a Bachelor’s in Plant Science from SUNY Cobleskill, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
