BAC Student Meaghan Doyle Has Plans for Her Future

Meaghan Doyle, Master of Science in Interior Architecture student at The Boston Architectural College (BAC), is looking to diversify her educational experience to further enhance her career. Working in Campus Planning at Harvard Medical School, Meaghan already had a Bachelor of Science in Facilities Planning and Management, as well as a Certificate in Managing Construction Projects, from Wentworth Institute of Technology. But Meaghan was looking for something more, something to round out her education and allow her to be even more effective in her work.

Meaghan began looking at programs in the Boston area and found the BAC's online Master of Science in Interior Architecture (MSIA) program. The online degree allows her to balance classes with working full time. Aware of the BAC and its reputation, Meaghan met with Crandon Gustafson, dean of the School of Interior Architecture, and by the end of their conversation, she knew she wanted to study at the BAC.

Since starting the program in the fall of 2015, Meaghan has thrived at the BAC. At work, her main objectives are to study programming, planning, policy & procedure development and implementation; space information system management, and lease analysis. This experience, along with her prior education, has really shaped how she looks at her assignments. The MSIA program has already benefitted her work, applying what she's learned in the classroom to projects. She knows that her MSIA will help her grow her career in campus planning, as the program allows her thesis to be research-based, rather than project based, making it more relevant and applicable to her work.

To students interested in pursuing a design career, Meaghan has some advice. "Explore a variety of careers to understand the diversity of jobs within the built environment field. Try to find a niche that you excel at, that you are truly interested in, and that sets you apart from your peers. Once you find it, do everything you can to enhance it." Before discovering her passion for campus planning, Meaghan had a variety of jobs in different fields, including interior design, facilities, and construction related. But campus planning has been her calling, and with a MSIA from the BAC, Meaghan is taking the next steps in her personal and career growth.
