Planned Giving at the BAC

Create a BAC Legacy Through Planned Giving.
You have the power to shape the future of the BAC through a planned gift that reflects your values. Planned gifts not only strengthen the College’s future but can also help you and your family achieve financial, estate-planning, and charitable goals, often with potential tax benefits. You may designate your bequest to the area that means the most to you, whether it's supporting your preferred program, establishing a named scholarship, or giving College leadership the flexibility to address the greatest needs of tomorrow.

Your legacy will have a lasting impact on the BAC and our students, supporting our core mission of providing an accessible design education to all.

When notified of your estate plans, we will welcome you into the 1889 Legacy Society, a special community of supporters who are helping to shape the BAC’s future.

We Can Help You Plan for Your Future

Including the BAC in your estate plan can be a powerful way to make a lasting difference while still meeting your personal and financial goals.

There are many options to leave a legacy:

  • Outright Bequest: Include the BAC in your will or trust with a fixed dollar amount or percentage of your estate. This is the easiest way to create a planned gift!
  • Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designation: Name the BAC as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement account, with specific tax benefits for each.
  • Life Insurance Gifts: Designate the BAC as a beneficiary or transfer ownership of a policy deemed not necessary to your estate plans.
  • Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs): Recommend grants to the BAC from your fund during your lifetime, and/or part of your planned gift, where applicable.
  • Appreciated Securities: Donate stocks or mutual funds to avoid capital gains taxes and support the BAC.
  • Bank and Brokerage Account(s): Name the BAC as beneficiary of your account to transfer the remaining funds directly to the College upon your passing.

1889 Legacy Society

Named for the year the College was founded, the 1889 Legacy Society honors those who support the BAC’s future through planned and realized estate gifts.

For over 125 years, legacy giving has helped sustain our mission of providing accessible design education. By including the BAC in your estate plans —through wills, trusts, retirement accounts, life insurance, or other forms of planned giving—it ensures the BAC remains this way for generations to come.

The BAC is proud to honor the generosity and foresight of our 1889 Legacy Society members. Members are recognized during their lifetime for their lasting commitment to the College’s future and are invited to special gatherings in appreciation of their visionary support.

As a student, it was important for me to both learn and earn. The BAC established a strong foundation allowing me to do both through its Practice component, in order to progress in my career and climb the corporate ladder. By including the BAC in my estate plan, I intend to financially support future students, enabling them to continue their studies and enjoy the same opportunities that I did.
