How We Can Help
From tutoring in all kinds of subject areas to helping students learn to master the English language, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) is here to help BAC students, staff, and faculty get the help they need. Explore below to see what services are right for you.
Tutoring
You must be a current BAC student, faculty, or staff member to receive tutoring. Tutors are fellow students, alumni, or specially hired professionals knowledgeable in their relevant subject matter. All tutoring is currently online. Click here to request a tutor!
Writing support is offered year around, by appointment only. Trained consultants can assist in any of the following ways (all services are free for BAC students):
- One-on-one consultations at any stage of the writing process, from organizing ideas, to revising drafts, to putting the finishing touches on an essay. Sessions are booked for one hour.
- Help with the job search, including writing resumes and cover letters, and practice interviews.
- Portfolio support, from feedback on the clarity of your writing to helping you lay out your work in a logical, sequential fashion
- English as a Second Language (ESL) support
- Presentation skills to prepare for your next studio pin-up or deliver a more effective oral presentation

Conversation Partners
The Conversation Partners Program supports our students who wish to improve their spoken English skills. Students will be matched with a current BAC student or graduate for informal conversations about design, Boston, U.S. culture, or any topic of their choosing. If you are interested in the Conversation Partners Program, either to improve your English or to act as a partner to a fellow student, please contact the Learning Resource Center at learningcenter@the-bac.edu.
Math and Physics Waivers
Students who feel they have already mastered the material taught in MNS 1001, College Algebra and Trigonometry, and MNS 1002, Physics, may be eligible to waive these courses.
Please speak with your Academic Advisor first to learn more about whether this option applies to you. If so, the LRC will help you schedule and take the appropriate exam. Please also read the Waiver Information Guide.
