We are pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Chapian as the Vice President of Finance and Administration at The Boston Architectural College (BAC), effective immediately.

This newly enhanced role underscores the BAC’s commitment to optimizing operational efficiency and effectiveness under Maria's leadership. She will oversee finance and administrative functions while serving as the liaison with the Board of Trustees Finance, Investment, and Audit and Risk Management committees.

As Vice President of Finance and Administration, Maria's initial focus will involve conducting listening sessions with internal stakeholders to assess budgetary and managerial reporting requirements. She will also continue to advance the GOHIO initiative to ensure efficient and scalable operations. Furthermore, Maria aims to enhance the finance department by recruiting a new Controller and filling other critical roles, while establishing internal processes and controls to bolster a robust financial framework aligned with our strategic plan, 'BAC to the Future'.

Maria brings a wealth of expertise, integrity, and knowledge to this position. Her deep understanding of the BAC and extensive experience in finance makes her an excellent fit for this role. Her intimate knowledge of our team and longstanding relationships have played a crucial role in maintaining smooth operations within our finance department.

Maria's career highlights include significant achievements in accounting, financial reporting, and strategic planning, culminating in her successful tenure as Interim Vice President of Finance over the past year. Previously, she served as our Controller and Associate Vice President of Finance since 2021.

Having started her career as an auditor at KPMG and later transitioning into leadership roles within the nonprofit sector, Maria's accomplishments include securing $7M in bond financing and driving substantial revenue growth. Her expertise in lean principles and continuous improvement has consistently delivered impactful results.

Maria holds a degree from Bentley University and has been instrumental in fostering strong relationships within our institution. Her leadership will further strengthen the College as we advance our mission and strategic initiatives.
