BAC Faculty Member Presents at Conference in Beijing

Hongbing Tang, ASLA, LEEP AP, Adjunct Faculty at the School of Landscape Architecture, recently attended the annual conference of CELA (Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture) in Beijing. The conference was co-organized by the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture Education committee and held at Tsinghua University, Beijing Forestry University, and Peking University. There were over 600 landscape architectural educators, professionals, and students in attendance.

This year's conference theme was BRIDGING. Hongbing gave 2 presentations at the conference. One of her topics was "Reconnecting the Lushan Botanic Garden and the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University - a botanical bridge between China and the U.S." Another talk she gave focused on bridging design and site grading principles in teaching site engineering for emerging landscape architects. Both of her presentations were well received. While in China, she was invited by the Tsinghua Tongheng Landscape Design Institute to teach a site grading workshop in Beijing this coming August.
