The Introduction to Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate is offered fully online. It is open to anyone interested in pursuing a career in kitchen and bath design or enhancing their existing interior design practice. No prior design experience is required, making this program ideal for career changers, interior designers seeking specialization, contractors looking to expand services, real estate professionals, and design enthusiasts. The convenient online format accommodates working professionals while providing rigorous, industry-standard education.
Requirements and Courses
The Introduction to Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate requires the completion of 9 credits, consisting of three required 3-credit courses offered in 8-week modules. Each course meets twice weekly—one synchronous live online session and one asynchronous learning module. The first two courses, “Space Planning and Design Fundamentals” and “Technical Systems and Building Requirements” can be taken in any order, but both are prerequisites for the third course, “Materials, Finishes, and Products”.

KBD2312 Technical Systems and Building Requirements for Kitchen and Bath, 3 credits
KBD2314 Materials, Finishes, and Products for Kitchen and Bath, 3 credits*
*Prerequisite: Completion of both prior courses.
How to Enroll in a Certificate Program
To enroll in a BAC Certificate Program, submit the following application materials to Continuing Education and then register for courses during an open registration period:

- $50 non-refundable application fee
Please Note: An undergraduate degree is recommended for the Sustainable Design Certificate, the Real Estate Development Certificate, and the Historic Preservation Certificate. Courses in these certificate programs are taught at the graduate level.
Certificate students must begin academic coursework in the program within two academic semesters of submitting the application materials.
