Building on foundational kitchen and bath design knowledge, the Advanced Kitchen and Bath Technical Systems Certificate equips aspiring and practicing designers with the technical expertise needed to bring complex projects from concept to construction. Through hands-on, practice-based learning in advanced cabinetry design, construction methods, and industry-standard CAD documentation, students develop the skills required for professional kitchen and bath design practice.

Designed for those who have completed the Introduction to Kitchen and Bath Certificate or possess equivalent professional experience, this intermediate-level certificate emphasizes real-world application, technical precision, and industry best practices. Students learn to coordinate trades, specify materials and products, and produce comprehensive construction documents for residential and commercial projects. Ideal for professionals seeking career advancement or specialization, the program bridges design creativity with the technical systems that drive successful kitchen and bath project delivery.

Eligibility

To enroll in the Advanced Kitchen and Bath Technical Systems Certificate, students are required to have completed the Introduction to Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate or hold equivalent professional experience. This certificate program is offered fully online. The convenient online format accommodates working professionals while providing rigorous, industry-standard education.

Requirements and Courses

The Advanced Kitchen and Bath Technical Systems Certificate requires the completion of 9 credits, consisting of three required 3-credit courses offered in 8-week modules. Each course meets twice weekly—one synchronous live online session and one asynchronous learning module. All three required courses have a prerequisite of the completion of the Introduction to Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate or equivalent professional experience.

KBD2316 Advanced Cabinetry Design and Specification, 3 Credits*
KBD2318 Kitchen and Bath Construction Methods, 3 Credits*
KBD2320 Advanced Technical Documentation and CAD, 3 Credits*

*Prerequisite: Completion of the Introduction to Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate or equivalent professional experience.

How to Enroll in a Certificate Program

To enroll in a BAC Certificate Program, submit the following application materials to Continuing Education and then register for courses during an open registration period:

Please Note: An undergraduate degree is recommended for the Sustainable Design Certificate, the Real Estate Development Certificate, and the Historic Preservation Certificate. Courses in these certificate programs are taught at the graduate level.

Certificate students must begin academic coursework in the program within two academic semesters of submitting the application materials.
