Julia Nugent

Julia Nugent's design approach concentrates on how theory can be translated and made manifest in built form. Resonant architecture recognizes the specific cultural and physical identity of a place. Ideas are expressed through the craft of building, and are embodied in architectural space and how it is used.

At the BAC, Julia works primarily with thesis students, helping them to recognize their design strengths, to explore new modes of inquiry and, ultimately, to develop their personal architectural voice. Her 20 years of practice have focused on design for educational facilities, with an emphasis on how architecture can support educational mission, pedagogical and curricular innovation, and student development.
